What is a P90X Coach, and What Does a P90X Coach Do?

P90X Coaches serve a couple purposes.

For the purposes of this blog post, I am going to focus on a P90X Coach’s responsibility for the fitness part of the equation, which is where the whole Beachbody Coaching concept originated from.

For starters, having a P90X Coaches is free, it doesn’t cost anything to have or sign up with a Coach.  Coaches are independent distributors who share their own personal experiences with Beachbody programs and nutritional and supplements.  More than just promoting products, a P90X Coach is someone who can motivate and help a customer, someone like you, achieve your weight loss and fitness goals while using Beachbody’s fitness programs.  A Coach’s goal should be to help you meet your own fitness goal.

When I first started with Power 90 and P90X, I relied heavily on my Coach to help me.  We communicated frequently through message boards. My Coach helped his team and the team helped each other – this was before Twitter and Facebook, so it’s even easier to stay connected now.  Sadly, what you’ll find is that more people you know will probably doubt you, then support you.  And you’ll definitely need to find a strong support system.  In the end during my initial transformation I lost 25 pounds and get down to 8% body fat.

Now, there are no qualifications for Coaches, and anyone can do it.  Coaches are everyday people who have either gone through a program like P90X, or are currently going through it.  They are not trainers, fitness experts, or nutritionists.

Beachbody does all the hard work. They along with their celebrity trainers developed the workout programs and routines, and fully comprehensive and easy to follow nutrition plans.  Coaches are there to help guide you, answer any questions you might have, and support you as best as they can during your fitness journey.

Now that next part is how to choose a P90X Coach and I’m going to leave that for another entry.  Click Here for Part 2.

Now if you’ve already make up your decision and would like me to coach you, then I’d be happy to commit myself to help you meet your goals.  Just click on the banner below and let’s get started.

Is Shakeology A Scam and does Shakeology Work?

Think my review is biased?

I want to address a question that I’ve been seeing pop up a lot lately and have been asked myself.  Does Shakeology really work and is it a scam?

I want to be very upfront about a couple things.

First off, I am a Beachbody coach.  I say that for a couple reasons.  For starters you can only get Shakeology directly from Beachbody or through their coaches.   I say this because Beachbody Coaches get compensated for selling Shakeology.  That doesn’t minimize how good or effective the product is.  Since coaches get compenstated for selling Shakeology, many people probably think it’s a scam and are judge the product because of what they think a coach’s motives are rather than the actual merits of the product.

Second, I didn’t drink shakeology during my transformation.  The reason is quite simple.  It had nothing to do with cost or whether or not I believe it would work.  I did Power 90 and P90X to lose weight and get ripped before Shakeology came out into the market.

To my earlier point I am not going to try to convince you how wonderful this product is.  Not because I don’t believe it,  but because you don’t know me and why would you trust me.  Personally I don’t like to be sold or convinced into getting anything.  If I’m going to buy something it’s because I’m curious to see if it’s as good as others are saying or I really do believe it will work.  Plus, I need to comfort to know I can return it if it doesn’t live up to my expectations.  Fortunately for anyone interested, Shakeology has what’s called a bottom of the bag guarantee,  so try it for a full 30 days, finish the entire bag and you can get a full purchase priece refund by sending back an empty bag.

Think about this, while obvuiosly coaches are going to pump up Shakeology, have you noticed there aren’t any negative reviews or videos about it?  An article was published on CNBC.com this week and Shakeology is bringing in $1MM sales /week.  At $120 that’s over 30 thousand bags.  Someone’s obviously buying them.  Look at all the P90X reviews.  If you check out all the p90x before and after videos it’s all positive, not everyone with a video is a coach so obviously both these products have merit to them.

So why do I take it? Many people looking to lose weight view it as a meal replacement, but since I’m not looking to lose weight anymore I view it as more than that. It’s replacing so many individual vitamins, minerals, antioxidents that I’m just not getting every day through the foods I buy and eat.  There’s a ton of stuff I need that I’m not getting but can be found in Shakeology. Shakeology fuels my body with everything it needs to operate efficeinetly and at peak performance. Plus it’s probably the most filling Protein/nutrition shake I’ve ever tasted which was something I look for.

As far as cost, it’s $120, or $90 if you’re a coach and some people become coaches just because they like it so much and want to pay that price.  Some people think it’s worth it and some don’t. Everyone’s financial situation is different .  People like ot compare it to Starbucks which some people drink every day. If you drink Starbucks every day, then that line of thinking may work, if not, that that logic is not relevant to you.

Only you know what is worth trying and paying for and what is not. It’s not my business to try to convince you otherwise.

If you’re curious, consider giving it a shot, especially since you have nothing to lose if you don’t like it. If you do, then you have a decision to make, but at least you’ll have first hand experience to make it.

The PX90 Workout.  Does PX90 Work?  4 Simple Steps for Success.

If you want to get in the best shape of your life, and look and feel like a new person, then I recommend you get PX90 workout.  As a P90X Coach I would be happy to help you maximize your results with the program.  If you do want to order PX90, here’s a little know secret.  If you buy PX90 by shopping through theTeam Beachbody website (free to join), you can receive discounted shipping and two bonus DVDs that are not available through the website and phone number advertised on the infomercial. If you want to join Team Beachbody for Free, but do not want to order PX90 at this point in time, click here.

As a multi-round graduate of PX90, I wanted to give some advice to anyone thinking about starting the PX90 workout and wondering if PX90 will work.  In this article I will share some very easy steps that I believe will help anyone get the results they are looking for.

These days, many people have either heard of PX90 or have seen the infomercial. PX90 can be easily and quickly summarized as an in-home all around fitness program that will get you ripped in just 90 days. All it takes is about an hour a day, and all you need is a pull up bar, and either resistance bands or dumbbells.  PX90 is was developed around the concept of muscle confusion, and was designed to prevent results that plateaus.  In PX90, you will continually switch up the routines and add new exercises.  As advertised the program comes with 12 DVDs, which include a variety of routines including, strength training, plyometric jump training, kenpo martial arts, yoga, core and abdominal work.

Does PX90 Work?

The program absolutely works and has help hundreds of thousands of people get in great shape.  Just go to YouTube and check out all the before and after transformation videos.  I am a success story and have helped many others use the program to get great results for themselves.  The program might seem confusing to follow because it comes with 12 DVDs and a comprehensive nutrition guide, but I tell everyone I know it will 100% work for you if you follow four simple steps.

Step 1:  Be Consistent

You must “push play” and workout at least six days a week.  The workouts are not about secret or never seem before moves. The workouts are about continually moving and challenging your body. It is that simple.

Step 2:  Maintain a Healthy Diet

I will admit it.  I was a little lost the first time I looked at the nutrition guide, but when you go through it in full, you will understand and realize it is pretty easy to follow.  There are different phases and options, but the key is not to make it overly complex. Think about it, most people who start the program are coming from a not so healthy diet, and to keep it simple I tell the people I help to concentrate on eating lean proteins, whole grains, healthy fats, fruits, vegetables, and stay away from processed foods, sugars and junk.  If you do not read the nutrition guide, just followed that last sentence and did your workouts, you would still get fantastic results.

Step 3:  Take Your Photos

If you do PX90 or any program, it is important to take day 0, 30, 60, and 90 photos, for two reasons.  First of all, it helps you track your progress.  It is an easy visual reference to see the improvements made each month.  Secondly, I find it motivating.  It is tough to see your progress when you look at yourself everyday, but seeing how you have progressed in 30 day intervals can be very rewarding and motivating.  Every time I reached another 30 day period, my pictures inspired me to push hard for another 30 days.

Step 4:  Write it Down and Stay Accountable

When I first started PX90, I marked down every day I worked out, and I wrote down everything I ate.  Not only did it help me keep a record of everything I was doing, but it helped me focus on doing, and especially eating the right things.  If I ever felt took a miss step in my diet, at the end of the day when I wrote down what I ate, I felt I was cheating myself and wasting all the hard work I was putting in.  It was a very each trick to get myself back on the right track.

Tony Horton “Bring It” Book Review.

Tony Horton “Bring It” Book Review.

I am a multi-round graduate of Tony’s Power 90 and P90X workout programs. I have nothing but praise for those programs since they were responsible for helping me with my own physical transformation.  Since I have read the book and have gone through some of Tony’s DVD workout programs I wanted to explain what exactly is covered in the book as well as some similarities and differences between the two.

 Book Content

The book is structured in four parts or chapters.  They are the Principles, the Routines, the Moves, and the Meal plan.

In the Principles chapter, Tony speaks about his philosophy on working out and its benefits.  Tony goes into how to develop your own fitness strategy that you can modify over time to meet your fitness goals.  To gauge what type of fitness level you are at, Tony has included some tests for the reader to determine his or her Fitness Quotient and Level.  The Principle section ends with Tony explaining why most people fail and quit an exercise program, what to avoid doing, plus tips for succeeding with a fitness program.

In the Routines chapter, Tony lists three types of workout routines based on what you scored in the FQ test from section 1.  There’s the Beginner’s routine, the Striver’s routine, and the Warrior’s routine.  Each of the routines contains a weekly schedule which includes three days of resistance training, two days of cardio, and one day of Yoga.  There are multiple examples of resistance training workouts, which include how to properly warm up, stretch and cool down.  The resistance workouts are full body circuit training style.  For all three of the routines, I would say the overall structure is like a P90X, Power 90 Masters Series hybrid.

In the Moves chapter, Tony gives instructions explaining how to set up and perform all the exercises listed in the Routines chapter.  The moves are broken into 5 parts; Cardio, Upper Body, Arms, Lower Body, Core, and Flexibility/Yoga.  There are over 120 pages in this chapter which covers about 128 moves.  There is nothing new to anyone who has gone through P90X, but for someone who has not gone through one of Tony’s program there is a lot packed in here.

In the Meal plan chapter, Tony discusses his approach to nutrition.  He says it is a commonsense, simple, nutrition-focused approach to improved health and weight loss.  He does not subscribe to fads and emphasizes the benefits of eating healthy beyond just weight control. He calls his plan a “flexitarian” approach which means eating a primarily plant-based diet focusing on whole foods.  This gives your body all the nutritional building blocks it needs.  The meal plan includes high-fiber complex carbohydrates; lean, healthy proteins; tons of fruits and vegetables; and healthy fats.  The meal plan is broken into three parts. The first part is the Cleanse.  In this 30 day phase you will gradually clean your body of all the toxins.  This is not a fast. This is about getting the bad out and teaching your body about the good.  The second part is the Nourish.  In this phase, you will find listed, highly nutritious foods.  The right types of vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, seeds, dairy, organically produced proteins and healthy fats.  The third part is called Supplements. In this phase Tony speaks about using supplements, only when you have your actual diet squared away.  It is not meant to replace everything in the Nourish phase.

The book ends with what Tony calls his “11 Laws of Health and Fitness” and over 20 pages of actual recipes.

My Assessment

I am huge fan of Tony and his fitness programs, and as a P90X graduate I found the book to be more of an inside look into how he puts his programs together and his philosophy on nutrition, than the paint by numbers approach to his DVD workout programs.

Overall, I think this book is a good read. Someone who is new to fitness or looking for motivation and basics might get a lot out of the book. If you have completed P90X, do not expect to learn any new moves. Most likely, you are already at an advanced fitness level and I don’t think you will find this book will take you to the next level.  However, what you will get out of the book is a peak inside of Tony’s head for a bit.  If you feel the book falls shots on being the next P90X, in all fairness I do not think that is what the book was designed to do, which is why Tony has his P90X One on One and MC:2 programs.

Why Is Shakeology So Expensive?

Why Is Shakeology So Expensive?

At face value Shakeology might seem expensive.  The total cost with taxes and shipping brings the cost of a bag to a little over $4 a serving.

Did you know that Beachbody coaches get 25% off the retail cost, so you’re now down to $3 a serving?  If you have a moment, check out this video explaining how to get Shakeology for cheap.

OK, but let’s say you don’t want to become a coach.  There are many other things that cost $4 a day that people do not question. Additionally they are not as healthy or beneficial to your well being.  Let’s think of a few shall we? A cup of Starbucks coffee, a pack of cigarettes, right, how about a bagel and cream cheese at your local deli?

Shakeology was designed to be a meal replacement shake.  Personally I use it as a snack, but even so, most meals cost more than $4.  When I buy lunch it usually costs me around $9 and even when I make my own lunch, it doesn’t come out to be much less.  So, using Shakeology as a meal replacement would actually save you money.

Next, let’s look at everything that goes into Shakeology.  Did you know there are over 70 ingredients that go into Shakeology?  Beachbody feels very strongly about putting the highest quality in their products and delivering them to their customers.  From the fitness workout programs to their nutrition supplement line.  A fellow Beachbody coach took the photo you see at the company’s headquarters and it really puts the quality of this product into perspective.  These ingredients were chosen from around the world for their potency and bioavailability (the ability to deliver the nutrients your body needs).

One glass of Shakeology contains Protein and Essential Amino Acids to help build long, lean muscles and reduce food cravings; Prebiotics and Digestive Enzymes, which aid in improving digestion, regularity, and nutrient absorption; Antioxidants and Phytonutrients to help counteract free radical damage that can lead to degenerative diseases; and Vitamins and Minerals your body needs to function for optimal health.

I know someone who did an experiment and went to the grocery store to purchase individual items and make a Shakeology alternative.  This experiment cost him over $480!  $4 a serving is looking pretty good right about now.  Even if you could get the cost down and made your own, most likely the store bought ingredients are not sourced at the same high standards that Beachbody uses and are heavily processed to increase shelf life.  What that means is that much of the “goodness” are cooked and killed before they ever make it into the drink.  Shakeology uses the freshest of ingredients.

So what would you rather do, go to the grocery store and make a terrible tasting overpriced concoction, or have the purest, healthiest ingredients in a great tasting shake for just $4 a day?  That’s the same cost as a bagel and coffee, but much healthier for you.

What this all translates to is a low cost, filling protein healthy shake, that is low on the glycemeic index, and high in taste.  This is why so many doctors are actually recommending Shakeology to their patients.

protein bar recipeI wanted to share with you an incredible recipe that I just came across.  I’ll admit it, I have a sweet tooth and that is what I stuggled with most when making changes to my eating habits.  I frequently eat store bought protein bars to help me i) satisfy my sweet tooth, and ii) serve as a protein based snack.

What’s even more cool about this recipe is the fact it uses 6 ingredients, is packed with 51 grams of protein and takes 5 minutes to make.  We all know the importance of getting enough protein to help repair damaged muscle tissue from intense training.  Also the breakdown of protein in itself requires more work of the body – meaning more calories burned and a leaner you.

Not only these bars taste good, simple to make but they also don’t include the many junk ingredients
that some protein bars don’t tell you about, and since it’s homemade you know EXACTLY what goes into it.

A healthy snack that tastes good!

Ingredients

  • 8 scoops chocolate protein powder
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/3 cup almond butter
  • 3 tbsp honey
  • 1/2 cup 1% milk

1. Mix together the protein powder, oatmeal, almond butter, honey and milk.

2. Form into 5 bars and then roll in the slivered almonds to finish.

P90X Brings Halloween Jersey Shore Style

Well my 6-week mini program has come to an end. In the middle of September my wife and I decided to go to our annual community Halloween party as a couple from the Jersey Shore. I wasn’t going to cut my hair, so “the Situation” was out, but I still wanted to make sure I had “situation” type abs if called upon for a random shirt lift. I probably could have gone a little lower in my calorie intake but I was pretty satisfied. The photo was taken late at night and the flash definitely over exposed some of the details, so the abs are not popping as much as had I rigged it with better lightening. I’m telling you they’re there.

I ironed “GTL” on my tank top, but it’s tough to tell since I lifted up my shrit.

I’m in a recovery week and I’m trying to decide what to do next. What type of split and if I’ll do heavy lifting at the gym or try another round of P90X using a weight vest…..Stay tuned.

So you’ve been hearing from people you know that in Beachbody, not only has great fitness programs and nutritional products like P90X and Insanity, but they also have a Network Marketing component to their business.  Your thinking about joining but have some questions.  I compiled a list of some of the more frequent questions I’ve been asked to better help you make a decision.

I don’t have any Network Marketing experience.

Recently Beachbody rolled out an easy to follow, step by step system for all coaches to plug into.  The system was designed to be easy to duplicate by a coach and their entire team.  Whether you’re a two year veteran, or a brand new coach, just follow the simple 10 step process.

I am not in shape or at my ideal weight or fitness level.

You don’t have to be at your ideal weight or fitness level to become a Beachbody coach. In fact, it could even be better that you are going through the process. First, it will help hold you accountable! Secondly, as you go through your transformation, people will begin to take notice and ask you about what you are doing to lose weight and get in shape. This presents a perfect opportunity for you to share about Beachbody products and/or the coaching opportunity.

I am not a certified fitness or nutritional expert.

You do not need to be an expert and neither are most of the top earning coaches.  That’s what the trainers who developed the DVDs or Beachbody’s staff of fitness and nutritional advisors are for.  If someone has a question you have an entire panel of experts to turn to.  Remember a fitness coach is someone who helps someone by making sure they follow the program and meet their nutritional needs.  As a coach, your job is not to develop plans workout plans or diets. Just help people with ones Beachbody developed for them to follow.

Is Beachbody a pyramid scam?
This is one of the most common concerns. Beachbody is a well-established infomercial company that has been around for over 10 years. . Entrepreneur Magazine rated Beachbody the 69th fastest growing business in America for 2007.  Moreover, Beachbody spends over $100 million dollars in advertising each year.  Beachbody launched their Network Marketing division to increase their reach as the help fight against the country’s rapidly growing obesity trend.  The main difference between an actual Network Marketing scam and a legitimate Network Marketing company is how the distributors are compensated. Beachbody coaches distribute actual products and it’s the companies that compensate just for recruiting without an actual product to sell are the ones you need to watch out for.

I don’t like to sell.

Most people do not like to sell and are turned off from Network Marketing because it’s tough to push your products on your friends and family members.  Thanks to the huge popularity, media exposure, and undisputed results, Beachbody products sell themselves.  The primary goal of a coach is to share information with others.  From the fitness programs and nutrition products, to the business opportunity. You just share your experiences with the products and some information with others about what Beachbody has done for you.  It’s up to them to decide what to do with that information.

I don’t have the time to do this.
You can start in as little as 5 – 10 hours a week, and the great thing about network marketing is that you are leveraging other people’s time. How much time do you spend watching TV or doing other activities?

It seems expensive to join

Truth is, this is probably one of the lowest start up fees for a Network Marketing program out there.  There’s a one-time fee of $40 and a $15 monthly charge for a web store and back office support and tools.  You have 30 days to cancel and get a full refund.  Plus there’s no contract so can cancel out of the program at any time.  There are no cancellation fees or anything like that, so becoming a Beachbody coach is totally risk free.

What does a Beachbody coach do? How do you choose the best one? Can you make money and be a successful one? These are all questions I asked myself shortly after I started P90X and started to hear about coaching. When it comes to finding who is the right coach for you, you need to first ask yourself what do you need one for?

The first type of coach is someone who can motivate and help a customer achieve their weight loss and fitness goals with their Beachbody fitness program. This was Beachbody’s primary purpose when they launched their coaching network. I relied on my coach to help me when I first went through P90X. In the end I lost 25 pounds in 90 days and get down to 8% body fat. I have since helped many others with guidance, support, and motivation to help them meet their weight loss and fitness goals.

The second type of coach is someone who signed up to receive 25% off future purchases. Coaches receive discounts on Beachbody products and because there are so many fans of the company’s products, many people sign up to become coaches simply for the discounts.

The third type of coach is someone who can help recruit and train new coaches to make money with the Beachbody business opportunity. Unfortunately, less than 2% of all coaches are making much if any money at all.

My guess is that most people considering becoming a Beachbody coach for the business and financial benefits, who happen to be reading this article, are new to internet marketing and the network marketing industry. If this is you, then I must compliment you for doing your due diligence and making sure you get started right. I did not do much research before becoming a Beachbody coach, and looking back, I should have.

If you think becoming a Beachbody coach is even a possibility, then understand that the fitness coach you have as a customer will automatically be assigned as your business coach when you sign up for the coaching program. If they are not spending much time growing their coaching business, then odds are they will not be able to help you if and when the time comes.  If this is you, then don’t worry because you can simply send an email to the coach relations department asking for a coach change.
