A couple winters ago, I was at my heaviest weight ever and I was disgusted with the way I looked and felt. One Saturday morning I was watching television and I caught the beginning of an infomercial that spoke to getting ripped in 90 days. By the time it ended I was totally mesmerized.

Immediately after the commercial ended, I jumped online and started looking into this workout program called P90X. Many times I came across what I thought were going to be reviews, only to find out they were articles or blog posts simply restating what I just learned in the infomercial. I wanted to see some real P90X results and stories in addition to the few testimonials in the commercial.

After a little more searching I found tons of P90X before and after pictures and convinced myself to commit to this program and give it a try. Working out in the comfort of my home and not spending hundreds of dollars on a gym membership appealed to me, plus the results of the people on the commercial and others I saw online were better than most of the people I used to see in the gym.

After completing multiple rounds of P90X I can honestly say that it works and the reason it works has more to do than just muscle confusion. The P90X workout is a complete comprehensive workout system and is more than just a spreadsheet with 10 exercises to do each day. As I stated earlier the real secret is not what you would expect, but let’s start with the obvious anyway.

A major selling point for the program is the workout videos. Throughout the entire program you workout along to them. The videos demonstrate variations that address all types of fitness levels. If you are not at the extreme level, follow the modified version until you are ready to move up to extreme level. A great feature about the videos, are the people cast in them that you are working out with. They are not professional athletes or models. They are all real people who went through the program and are sweating the whole time just like you are.

The program also comes with a fully comprehensive and detailed nutritional guide. Like the videos, the nutrition guide was developed to address different types of people. If you like to cook, the guide tells you what types of foods you should be eating and how much of them you should be eating. If you just want to be told what to do, there is a section that lays out complete meals that will last you months.

What goes overlooked and is the most critical part for success with P90X are the coaches and online support system. Statistically speaking more than half of the United States is overweight. Completing 90 days, sweating buckets for an hour a day, and completely changing your nutritional habits is going to be hard to do and the last thing someone needs is lack of support from friends, family members, and co-workers. In conclusion the program works, but it is not because of a special push up or never seen before bicep curl or shoulder press. It works because it is a complete workout package with a unique support system which you follow step by step. Follow the videos, eat as outlined in the nutritional guide, and most importantly connect with a coach and the thousand of other people who are in the same boat you are. That is the real truth behind why P90X really works.
